Careers | Trainee Air & Vent Testing Engineer

We are expanding our Energy Compliance Consultancy and are looking to employ a Trainee Air Permeability and Extract Ventilation Tester. Full and comprehensive training will be provided to enable you to carry out building compliance testing to a high standard against Part L (air tightness) and Part F (ventilation performance) of the Building Regulations. Training will cover the use of specialist equipment, computer systems and testing methods. Our client portfolio includes new build residential and non-residential properties across Southern England comprising of large and small developers, architects, office builders and industrial contractors with project values ranging between £100k to £20m.

Training and a supportive environment will be provided to enable the successful candidate to perform, execute and undertake the following:

  • Carry out all site testing in accordance with company procedures upholding our high standards and quality of work
  • Manage and maintain testing equipment whilst on site and at the office
  • Liaise with site staff, Project and Site Managers to explain testing and site requirements
  • Plan test strategies and methodologies site by site
  • Set up onsite testing equipment in accordance with method statements in order to undertake the required testing
  • Carry out tests in accordance with iATS approved testing standards
  • Interpret and evaluate onsite results and performances
  • Report opinions and interpretations of test results to site management team
  • Write reports and produce certification
  • Assist customer to diagnose defects/problems and recommend remedial advice in the event of tests failing

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Excellent IT skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • GCSE and/or A levels in Maths, English, Science
  • Full, clean driving license valid in the UK

Usual working hours: 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (some late and/or weekend working maybe required which may be subject to paid overtime)
